Minister of Livestock Development Visits Amo Farm, Highlights Noilers’ Role in Nigeria’s Food Security

On February 2, 2025, Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Limited welcomed Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Nigeria’s Minister of Livestock Development, to our facility in Awe, Oyo State. The visit focused on inspecting our breeder farms, hatchery operations, and our pioneering work with the Noiler chicken breed—a dual-purpose bird known for both meat and egg production.

During the tour, the Minister praised our contributions to Nigeria’s food security, particularly through our large-scale Noiler production. He highlighted the potential of scaling this impact further through village-based cooperatives and outgrower models that empower local farmers while improving protein access and affordability across rural communities.

“For us in the ministry, these are the types of partners we want to identify and work with,” said the Minister, sharing his personal experience of purchasing day-old chicks from Amo Farm for his own poultry operation.

Our Group Managing Director, Dr. Ayoola Oduntan, emphasized the opportunity presented by the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development, calling it a strategic move toward securing Nigeria’s agricultural future. He also underscored the role of the private sector in driving innovation and expanding food systems through strong public-private partnerships.

The event was attended by key industry leaders including Dr. Anand Burra (Managing Director, Amo Farm), Mr. Idris Ajimobi (Senior Special Assistant to the President on Livestock Development), and Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar (National Coordinator, L-PRES).

This visit reaffirms Amo Farm’s commitment to food security, rural empowerment, and sustainable poultry farming in Nigeria. Producing over one million day-old chicks weekly, and through our natnudO Foods subsidiary, we continue to deliver high-quality protein products to households nationwide.

We look forward to building more strategic partnerships that support Nigeria’s food future.
